Buttery Soft Kitty Rolls Recipe
Recipe by LittleMissBento
Tools:
8 x 8 pan, spatula, whisk,
kitchen scale,
kitchen thermometer
Cooking Time 350°F until bread reaches internal temperature of 200°F
Yield: 9 Dinner rolls
Ingredients
- 150 Grams Bread Flour
- 3 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Yeast
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Milk Powder
- 160 Millimeters Warm Milk
- 150 Grams Bread Flour
- 37 Grams Unsalted Butter
- 3/4 Teaspoon Salt
- Edible Black Marker
- 1 Egg
- 1 Tablespoon Water
- Some oil for greasing pan
Directions
- In a bowl using a whisk mix together 150 grams bread flour, 3 grams granulated sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons of yeast, 1 1/2 teaspoons milk powder. Add 160 millimeters warm milk and fold with a spatula
- Add in the other half of the ingredients of 150 grams bread flour, 37 grams of butter, 3/4 teaspoons of salt and fold together with a spatula.
- It may not all come together right away, remove it from the bowl and onto the table to knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a clean large bowl, covered with saran wrap or a plate. For best results place the dough in a warm area like the top of a refrigerator and let it rise for one hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Push down on the dough to remove the gas, remove it from the bowl and knead it gently to remove any excess gas. Divide the dough into 10 pieces. For the best results, use a kitchen scale, weigh it in grams and divide the weigh of the dough by 10 and weigh each piece of dough out exactly. Let it rest for ten minutes so it will be easier to work with, covering it loosely with saran wrap to prevent it from drying out.
- Shape each ball of dough into a ball into an oval. Lightly grease an 8 x 8 pan with oil and place 9 of the balls of dough into the pan in rows of three, lightly press down on each ball to flatten. Cover with saran wrap. The remaining 10th ball of dough will be used for the kitty's features.
- Using the 10th ball of dough, roll it into a log and cut it into 36 pieces. Or cut into 9 pieces and further divide each pieces into 4 pieces to get 36 pieces. Roll half the pieces into flat ball for ears s, and the other half into cat triangle ears. The entire time while working on this loosely cover the pieces with saran wrap to prevent it from drying out.
- Place the pieces onto the dough. The paws and dough may fall off the dough, and you can try using water or egg wash to glue them together a little better. Cover loosely with saran wrap and let it double in size for 40 minutes.
- Make an egg wash by combining 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of water and lightly brush the dough with the egg wash.
- Bake in an preheated oven of 350°F for 12 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature 200°F. Using foil to prevent it from over browning.
- Let it cool completely before using an edible black marker to draw on the facial features.
